2.14.2012 | Cherokee Nation economic impact in Tulsa region tops $1 billion
 

The Cherokee Nation’s economic impact in northeast Oklahoma tops $1 billion, according to a newly-released report. The Tulsa Metro Chamber joined the Cherokee Nation at a Tulsa press conference to announce the report’s findings.

The Cherokee Nation has an impact of more than $1.06 billion, provides $401 million in salary and supports nearly 14,000 Cherokee and non-Cherokee jobs, according to the report. The Cherokee Nation employs 9,000 people directly. The report showed the impact the Cherokee Nation has on its 14-county jurisdiction, which covers the northeast corner of Oklahoma, including Tulsa County.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker said: “While we knew all along the impact was substantial, we were proud to see the significant impact our tribal and business operations have on the state of Oklahoma.”

Tulsa Metro Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal stated: “The Cherokee Nation is making a tremendous impact on our regional economy in all aspects and has plans to continue being a catalyst for economic development. This report released by the Cherokee Nation is further evidence of their dedication to economic development, and we are pleased to take part in announcing this important information.”

40,000 SQ FT Tulsa Manufacturing Facility to Fabricate Metering piping systems for Oil & Gas Industries

Word Industries Fabrication LLC, an Oklahoma Owned and Operated Company, has opened a new Metering Division in Tulsa. CEO Tom Word said the manufacturing facility will fabricate and assemble metering and piping systems for use in the Natural Gas and Oil and Liquids Industries.




6.24.2011 | ONE PLACE TOWER BREAKS GROUND
Downtown Tulsa’s skyline is set to have a new addition. Developers broke ground today on the 18-story One Place Tower. The tower is situated in a prominent location directly in front of the iconic BOK Center. The nearly one-third million square feet of office space is 100 percent leased with additional retail and restaurants space located on the ground floor.

The Tulsa metro area's jobless rate plummeted to 6.5 percent in March - the lowest in two years, according to information released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
