L-3 Aeromet celebrated its move to a new facility at Tulsa International Airport Nov. 8 with a grand-opening ceremony organized in partnership with the Tulsa Regional Chamber. The company recently transitioned its operations to TIA from a former facility at Tulsa’s Richard L. Jones, Jr. Airport. The company also was commemorating its 10th anniversary as part of L-3.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of this facility, which offers room for the potential expansion of our business while ensuring we remain in the Greater Tulsa business community,” said Gary Ball, vice president and general manager of L-3 Aeromet. “This is a wonderful way for us to celebrate 10 years of being L-3.”

Exploration and production company Midstates Petroleum joined Tulsa Regional Chamber officials and Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett Aug. 21 to announce plans to add 130 jobs and to expand its Tulsa operations.
8.8.2013 | Whirlpool adding 150 Tulsa jobs and investing millions in local operations
Whirlpool Corporation, a leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, plans to add around 150 new jobs and $18.8 million in capital investment at its Tulsa facility beginning in 2014. The project is part of Whirlpool Corporation’s plan to invest more than $1 billion in its U.S. operations.
Whirlpool, which currently employs approximately 850 at north Tulsa’s Cherokee Industrial Park, plans to manufacture a new cooking product at its Tulsa facility. The Whirlpool Tulsa Division, which first opened in 1996, is a leading producer of freestanding ranges.
“We are extremely excited that Whirlpool is expanding its operations and creating more jobs in Tulsa,” said Governor Mary Fallin. “Whirlpool’s investment in Oklahoma is a great vote of confidence in the state’s pro-business climate and its long term economic outlook. My thanks go out to Whirlpool and its employees for continuing to be an important part of our Oklahoma community.”

MRC Global recently opened a new regional distribution center in North Tulsa, the pipeline products company announced. The facility has an 80,000 square foot warehouse and will have about 80 employees.

SWEP, the world's leading supplier of brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) for use in the heat transfer industry, announced it will begin operations in the Tulsa area in 2013 to support its growing customer demand. The company will initially hire 25 employees to staff the operation, with an additional 30 to 50 employees being added by 2015.

Verizon has announced plans to establish a financial services hub at its facility at Cherokee Industrial Park in Tulsa, bringing 500 high-paying jobs to the region. Chamber officials said Verizon’s hiring plans are among the largest Tulsa-area job-creation announcements in years.
1.14.2013 | Borets-Weatherford breaks ground on R & D center, plans workforce expansion
Energy sector manufacturing firm Borets-Weatherford broke ground today on a new research and development center and announced plans to expand its Tulsa-region workforce. The Tulsa Regional Chamber assisted in the announcement.
Borets-Weatherford is constructing a 15,000-square-foot research and development lab, and plans to add at least 30 employees in northeast Oklahoma. The new lab is a continuing investment in R&D that will provide the capability for full scope and automated testing of pumps, motors and motor seals.
Borets-Weatherford U.S., Inc. President & CEO Kim Arnold said, “We are eager to get this state-of-the-art R&D Lab completed as part of our long-term strategy to be the leader in bringing new equipment and technology to the electric submersible pumping system market.”
