Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) announced today the organization will hold its 2013 annual conference in Tulsa. It is the first time Tulsa has hosted the event.


8.9.2010 | Tulsa Metro Chamber named nation's best
The Tulsa Metro Chamber announced today its selection as the nation’s best chamber by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE.) The Chamber of the Year Award is the highest achievement in the chamber industry and was presented to Tulsa at a national conference in Milwaukee, Wis.

Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal and Executive Vice President Matt Pivarnik clinched the title for a record third time in five years after participation in a panel interview at the national ACCE conference. This marks the first time a chamber has been selected as a finalist and award winner in three consecutive, back-to-back years of eligibility. Award winners are not allowed to apply the following year.

Following a national search, Tulsa Metro Chamber has named Delise Tomlinson the executive director of downtown development. Tomlinson will lead the economic development division’s efforts to aggressively recruit developers interested in capital investment.

6.23.2010 | Tulsa's Young Professionals launches small business incubator
Tulsa's Young Professionals (TYPros) announced today the launch of The Forge, a business center created to accelerate the development, success and sustainability of start-ups and existing small businesses in the region.

The Forge, 206 S. Cheyenne Ave., includes a physical space for small businesses (similar to an incubator), a meeting place for entrepreneurs, and a resource of knowledge for creating the next generation of business leaders. Tenants of The Forge will include both small businesses owned by young professionals and those which cater to the young professional demographic.

“By opening the doors of The Forge business development center, Tulsa’s Young Professionals is continuing the legacy of entrepreneurship in Tulsa,” said The Honorable Dewey Bartlett, mayor, city of Tulsa.

TYPros opened The Forge – a project its Business Development Crew worked five years to complete – to attract, retain and support aspiring entrepreneurs, create jobs and stimulate the economic development of Tulsa.

Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) will recognize Tulsa Metro Chamber’s new Business Retention and Expansion program at the BREI/Southern Economic Development Council Joint Conference, Aug. 14-17 in New Orleans.


6.2.2010 | Extensive terminal projects begin at Tulsa airport
More than $5.92 million in construction management, architectural/engineering, electrical and passenger boarding contracts were approved recently by the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust. The design and preliminary construction contracts kicked off the $29.3 million west concourse passenger terminal reconstruction project at Tulsa International Airport. The project includes raising an 8-foot-wide center portion of the concourse roof, installing skylights, new electrical, heating, ventilation, fire suppression and security equipment, and installing new foundations and passenger boarding bridges.

6.2.2010 | State Quality Jobs Program to assist growing Tulsa companies
Three Tulsa-based companies will create up to 633 jobs. Road Science, formerly part of SemMaterials, anticipates creating 44 new jobs; store fixture manufacturer Bearwood 125 jobs; and oilfield pump producer Borets-Weatherford 50 jobs. The companies qualify for nearly $7.5 million worth of incentives under the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program.

The Tulsa Metro Chamber announced today the winners of its annual Small Business Awards at a luncheon and program at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills. Recipients were selected by the Chamber’s Small Business Council from nominees that exhibited entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to create jobs in the Tulsa area.






5.3.2010 | Eight local businesses announce 361 jobs in 2010
Tulsa’s Future, a job-creation initiative of the Tulsa Metro Chamber, announced today that eight Tulsa-area companies have hired or intend to hire a total of 361 employees in 2010. Chamber and City of Tulsa representatives made the announcement to emphasize that jobs are available and that efforts to attract and retain businesses are working.




3.30.2010 | Downtown ballpark opens this month
Tulsa’s new ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers baseball team, will open its doors in April in downtown Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District. The $60 million ballpark project included construction of the stadium and the acquisition of the surrounding land for mixed-use redevelopment. The first pitch will be thrown Thursday, April 8.


3.25.2010 | Holly Energy reports 2009 profit of $66 million
Holly Energy Partners LP, which moves and stores oil at its parent company’s newly acquired Tulsa refineries, reported that its profit nearly tripled in 2009. The subsidiary of Dallas-based Holly Corp. reported $66 million in net income, compared with $25.4 million in 2008.

Tulsa was named the No. 8 U.S. city for young adults by Portfolio.com. The business publication’s list of cities was based on population growth, job opportunity and growth, share of population, young people with bachelor’s degrees and more.

Brookings Institution and MetroMonitor included Tulsa among the top 20 strongest-performing metro areas in the U.S. MetroMonitor, an interactive barometer of the health of America's metropolitan economies, tracks the economic recession and recovery in the nation’s 100 largest metro areas.

Tulsa’s ONEOK Partners LP has been ranked as the world’s fastest growing energy company by a leading energy information service. Platts put ONEOK Partners atop its list based on its three-year compound growth rate in revenue, according to reports. ONEOK Partners gathers, processes, stores and transports natural gas and natural gas liquids throughout the U.S.


2.22.2010 | SourceLink Launch
 Tulsa Metro Chamber announced today at a press conference the launch of SourceLink Tulsa, a new program created to spur the growth of small businesses and start-ups in the area.  SourceLink is funded by the Chamber’s economic development plan, Tulsa’s Future. Speakers at the press conference were Cari Marshall, 2010 chair of the Chamber’s Small Business Council and owner of Tulsa-based L&M Office Furniture; Howard Barnett, president of OSU-Tulsa; Jeremy Hegle, U.S. SourceLink; and Patrick Cuningkin, owner of Tulsa-based start-up I’m Delivered.

In a community the size of the Tulsa metro region, there are a number of nonprofit and government organizations offering business-building services. However, individuals who own a small business or those who wish to start one are often overwhelmed with questions or challenges and may not know where to find help.

SourceLink Tulsa provides a simple, cost-free answer to this challenge. SourceLink is a referral network that links small and emerging business owners to area resource partners who provide a range of services to help businesses grow and prosper. The program is based on a model created by the Kauffman Foundation, and is offered at no cost to entrepreneurs and participating resource partners.

The Tulsa Metro Chamber’s President and CEO Mike Neal announced today the selection of Jim Fram as the new senior vice president of economic development leading the Tulsa’s Future program. His selection is the result of a national search process led by Waverly Partners, regional business leaders, and Tulsa’s Future investors.
