Whirlpool announces 150 new jobs, $55 million expansion

Whirlpool Corporation plans to expand its operations in Tulsa with the addition of a new Factory Distribution Center (FDC). Adjacent to its existing manufacturing plant, the warehouse will support increased production capacity and improve efficiencies within the existing supply chain across North America, while simultaneously supporting growth in the region.

QuikTrip to build north Tulsa distribution and manufacturing center

QuikTrip plans to build a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility near 43rd Street North and Garnett Road to accommodate the growth of QT Kitchens and other facets of its business.

QT spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said the company has outgrown the facility it has near U.S. 169 and 51st Street, and the new facility is part of the company’s long-term plan.

Tulsa celebrates Economic Development Week

Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett signed a proclamation declaring May 8-14 Economic Development Week in Tulsa.

The International Economic Development Council created economic Development Week in commemoration of its 90-year anniversary as the largest professional membership organization for economic developers.

Economic developers are charged with generating economic growth, creating better jobs for residents and facilitating an improved quality of life. The industry remains as complex, challenging and rewarding as ever.
