Whirlpool adding 150 Tulsa jobs and investing millions in local operations


Whirlpool Corporation, a leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, plans to add around 150 new jobs and $18.8 million in capital investment at its Tulsa facility beginning in 2014. The project is part of Whirlpool Corporation’s plan to invest more than $1 billion in its U.S. operations.

The renovated facility at TIA is more than 90,000 square feet and includes a large administrative building for its engineering and program management staff, system development laboratory and testing space, and two hangars capable of accommodating the multiple special-mission aircraft the business supports. Located at 6501 East Apache Street, the facility is conveniently situated near the intersection of East Apache Street and Sheridan Road, on the southwest side of TIA, with easy access to the airport’s commercial terminal.

The Tulsa Regional Chamber, Governor Mary Fallin, the City of Owasso, Cherokee Nation, Northeast Oklahoma elected officials and regional partners in economic development revealed today the largest Tulsa-region jobs announcement in nearly a decade.

HP to boost Tulsa-region workforce

Global information technology firm Hewlett Packard is adding 65 high-quality jobs at its locally-based Enterprise Services hub, boosting the Tulsa area's IT-sector growth.

HP plans to add jobs over the next two years to its transportation-related operations based at its Tulsa offices. The positions will have an average annual wage of $65,000. Currently, HP employs about 800 in Tulsa.

Baker Hughes unveils new Claremore research and development center

Baker Hughes hosted a grand opening Feb. 20 for its new, world-class artificial lift research, development and testing facility in Claremore. The facility will handle work related to advancing the application of artificial lift systems in technically challenging markets, including deep water, unconventional oil resource plays and heavy oil. The new Claremore facility represents an investment of $60 million.
