Bixby becomes the first city in Oklahoma to have fiber based gigabit Internet service

One of Oklahoma’s fastest growing communities is putting Oklahoma on the national broadband Internet map. Bixby joins a small but elite group of communities that have gigabit, or 1,000 Mbps, Internet connectivity for residential use. The Bixby area already has over 45 residential developments with roughly 4,600 homes served by fiber based Internet services supplied by BTC Broadband, a 100 year old telecommunications company headquartered in Bixby. Beginning with this announcement, all of these households will now have access to gigabit broadband Internet.

Cherokee Nation forecasts 1,000 new jobs with its new development

Cherokee Nation Businesses announced last week it will develop a new upscale retail center, Cherokee Outlets. The $80 million projectis expected to bring more than 1,000 new jobs to the Tulsa region. Hundreds of construction jobs are anticipated, and the project is expected to generate $100 million in sales andattract two million visitors to the area annually.

Eastbound I-244 bridge over Arkansas River opens

A red ribbon gives the green light for traffic to start returning to normal across the Arkansas River in Tulsa. Both the east and westbound I-244 bridges have been replaced, and on Monday, Sept. 15, crews began removing the first of the detour routes in this corridor and allowing traffic to drive onto the new eastbound bridge for the first time.

Tulsa’s Future bolsters regional, state economy

The Tulsa Regional Chamber-led Tulsa’s Future plan is playing a leading role in boosting economic development in northeast Oklahoma and bolstering the state economy. That’s what Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, regional business leaders and local elected officials reported at the annual meeting for Tulsa’s Future investors April 21.

Gov. Fallin touted the accomplishments of Tulsa’s Future, emphasizing the role northeast Oklahoma plays in the state’s economic development efforts.

BizJet opens new facility, launches expansion

Tulsa-based BizJet International unveiled a facility April 10 that will house a new product line the company is introducing as part of its long-term growth strategy. At least 60 jobs are being added as part of the newly-announced expansion.

BizJet International Sales & Support announced earlier this year that up to 250 jobs are being added companywide. BizJet currently employs around 300 at its Tulsa International Airport headquarters.

Tulsa region recognized as a leader in new and expanded facilities

Northeast Oklahoma continues to receive national and international recognition for business attraction and expansion. The Tulsa region ranked No. 5 in a list of top 10 metros with population between 200,000 and 1 million for new and expanded facilities for 2013. The ranking was announced today in the latest issue of Site Selection magazine, a leading publication in the corporate real estate and economic development fields.

Taylor Forge constructs new Tulsa facility, plans workforce expansion

Taylor Forge Engineered Systems is marking its expansion in the Gas Processing and Heat Transfer business with construction of a new manufacturing center in Tulsa. The company plans to expand its workforce as part of its strategy for continued growth.

Taylor Forge is in the process of applying for the State of Oklahoma’s Quality Jobs incentive, and plans to add as many as 100 employees at its new facility.
